ORIGINS OF THE ILLIAN ALBUMS |
|
Assembled electronically by Tom McFarland in May 2003
Dorathy and Jeanne Landis were sisters who lived nearby in Milwaukee, Jeanne moving to
northern Illinois after marriage. Their children met frequently and kept in touch at least
through 2004. Thus, when Dorathy's son Tom L. McFarland began to assemble this digital record
in 1999, Jeanne's daughters Carroll, Suzy, and Sally contributed many memories and photos,
both from their personal families and from the shared family going back to the 1840's.
In April 2003, Carroll's husband Harold contributed memoirs and photos from his past.
Carroll Flood possesses several old items which have contributed to the history of her
family, such as [1] an old scrapbook maintained by her great-grandfather John William Landis,
[2] an old music box owned by John Landis, [3] a book of poems assembled for Hannah Robinson
in the 1840's.
I also consulted Leslie Bellais of the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison, who offered her
opinion on ages of clothing styles in several pictures.
