The Problem Solving Competition
This is a mathematics problem solving competition for undergraduates sponsored by the American Society for Mathematics. Each
month there will be a new problem posted. Undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater may submit
solutions to these problems to Professor Kane, McGraw 109. Each month the student submitting the best solution will be
presented with a certificate. The top problem solver will be invited to travel to MathFest, the summer meeting of the
Mathematical Association of America, to compete in a US National Collegiate Mathematics Championships. Next summer MathFest
will be held July 31 - August 2 in Madison, Wisconsin.
The April 2008 Problem:
Answers are due in Dr. Kane's office (McGraw 109) by noon on Thursday May 1.
