Mathematics Scholarships and Requirements awarded by The Mathematical and Computer Sciences Department
Carroll and Kay Flanagan Mathematics Scholarship
Mathematics majors must have completed two semesters of the calculus sequence and at least one other mathematics course at UW-Whitewater beyond 254 and have sophomore or junior standing for the fall semester of the awarded period. Students must have a GPA in the major of at least 2.67.
Clayton Droullard Mathematics Scholarship
A candidate must be a registered UW-Whitewater student of junior or senior standing for the award period, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have declared a major or minor in mathematics, they must have demonstrated leadership qualities in either campus or community organizations.
Marian Baldwin Schlicher Scholarship
Preference will be given to those students who have completed six hours of upper division courses numbered higher then Math 255, but excluding Math 355. Students must have an overall GPA of at least 2.75.
William Beck Scholarship
First priority will be given to students majoring in mathematics and minoring in physics. Second priority will be to students majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics. Third priority will be to all mathematics majors. Students must have an overall GPA of at least 2.75 and no grade below a C in math or physics.
Rex and Germaine Foster Scholarship
Mathematics majors must have completed a minimum of six credit hours in mathematics courses that count toward the major, and maintained an academic average of 3.0 or better in mathematics courses with no grade below a C. Overall academic average of at least 2.75.
William F. Johnston Computer Science Award
Secondary education majors with a minor in computer science OR mathematics majors with preference given to students in the computer science track. Students must have an overall GPA of at least 2.50.
Available to new freshman, pursuing a Mathematics Major
Carroll and Kay Flanagan Freshman Mathematics Scholarship
Incoming freshman candidates must declare a major in mathematics and have maintained an overall academic average of 3.0 or better out of 4.0 while in high school, and earned a minimum of 28 on the mathematics portion of the ACT.
Stephen Lewandowski Mathematics Scholarship
Incoming freshman candidates must declare a major in mathematics or mathematics education and be in the top 10% of their high school graduating class, and have completed 4 years of high school math with a GPA in high school math of at least 3.50. Students should also be in the top 10% in ACT/SAT of all students applying to UW-W.
