PROGRAM ASSIGNMENT #1

DUE: 1:00 pm, Friday, February 2, 2001
VALUE: 20 pts.

The purpose of the first assignment is to become familiar with the Turbo IDE; to do so, you are to key in the following Pascal program, observing carefully the exact use of spacing and comments enclosed in {}. You are to type in the program EXACTLYAS IT APPEARS on the Program 1 assignment sheet using the Turbo Pascal editor (begin typing immediately in column #1). When your program runs correctly, get a program listing and a hot print of the output shown on your user screen. Do this as follows: to print your program listing (NOT output), select PRINT from the File Menu. To hot print your user screen (showing program output), press SHIFT-PRINT SCREEN when the program pauses output on your user screen and you see the arrow ---> (after your output screen is printed, you return to the editing screen by pressing the space bar). Save your program file as PROG1.PAS on your storage diskette. Turn in: (1) your program listing; (2) a hot print of your output as it appears on your user screen and (3) the program file stored on your properly formatted and labeled diskette. Be sure that your diskette is free from viruses (use the McAfee Utility to check this). Projects turned in with virus-infected diskettes will be returned for a redo. [For obvious reasons involving cut-and-paste, the actual code cannot be displayed here - consult your printed copy of this assignment.]

Be sure to observe the punctuation of the program exactly (replacing the <...> with the requested information). You will be turning in two different printer outputs: a program listing and a hot print of your output (user) screen. Do not detach the printer header page from either print out. Review all the details discussed in the Program Criteria (e.g., sign your name and section on the header page of each print out). Hand in your diskette and printouts in a folder as described in class. Failure to follow these instructions exactly will result in a "redo".
