Condition X. Each student is expected to obtain a text for the course.
The student may choose which book he/she uses as a text, subject to approval by the instructor. Examples of suitable texts will be named during the first class.
The student must bring his/her text to the professor for approval on or before the fourth meeting of class. This deadline will be extended 2 weeks for documented hardship interacting with a bookseller.
Condition Y.
Each student should be absent from class no more than twice. Additional absences will not affect your grade provided that:
[1] a doctor/nurse certifies in writing that illness prevented attendance.
[2] a UWW teacher certifies that a required duty conflicted with attendance.
[3] police/courts certify that a legal duty conflicted with attendance.
[4] the student gives written or electronic notice two weeks prior to a religious obligation conflicting with attendance; verification by a religious official may be required.
UNacceptable excuses include oversleeping, car trouble, dates, undocumented illnesses, and work for other classes which could be done at times other than Math 177 classtime. It is best to use your 2 unexcused absences to cover situations for which you might not be able to obtain an acceptable written excuse.
Condition Z. To fulfill this condition, you must get a grade in the upper half of the class on the last and only test, to be given during the last official class period (before finals week).

Grade How this grade is earned
