Chess references on the Internet

The internet has thousands of links to Chess, satisfying every conceiveable taste, and probably a few inconceiveable ones also! Use a search program such as [http://www.google.com] or [http://www.excite.com]; type "chess" (for example) into their search box, and be prepared to waste hours doing this, or resolve to limit yourself to 1-2 links or a specific number of minutes BEFORE you start the browsing!

Here are a few civilized links; all 4 links were responding in good shape in mid-September 2002:

http:www.uschess.org/ [U.S. Chess Federation: official US chess organization]
http://www.chess.ibm.com/home/html/b.html [Gary Kasparov plays IBM computer DEEP BLUE]
http://www.chessvariants.com/Gindex.html [Variants on the game of Chess]
http://www.gorfopages.com/ [Chess Problems]
