- David Faith, born 10 April, about 1866, in Darmstadt, Germany. David's birth surname (geburtsname) was "Veit",
changed to "Faith" after arrival in America because the German pronunciation of "Veit" was identical
to the English pronunciation of "fight".
Died Dec 1940 in NYC. Married Magdalena Faith about 1892, ran/owned a tobacco store in NYC
There is some controversy over a potential relationship between David Veit and Alois Veit;
Alois Veit married Josefa Schicklgruber, sister of Maria Anna Schicklgruber (paternal grandmother of Adolf Hitler).
However, the Veit family linked to Hitler lived near Graz, Austria, not Darmstadt, Germany.
- Magdalena (Lena) Faith , maiden name Kunz, born 28 May, about 1868,
in Walheim, near Darmstadt, Germany (her childhood home).
Late in life, Lena used a wheelchair.
Marilyn (Olsen) Baurle met a descendant of this Kunz in September 2000, in Medicine Lodge, KS, and
Walter Steinmetz has corresponded with Susan De Vos. David died about Nov 1950 in NYC.
- John Nicholas Olsen, born 6 January 1885 in Bayonne, New Jersey, USA (from Marilyn Baurle); John had a sister Carolyn Olsen, who married William Wolfrath,
bearing one daughter Dorothy (born 8 November 1923). Dorothy then married Ernest Willvonseder, having a son Ernest (born ?) and a
daughter Lisa (born 22 August 1964). Lisa married John Greto and has 2 children, Nicole (born 5 November 1994) and a boy, and live
(as of January 2000) in Sandy Hook, Connecticutt. John N. Olsen died between 1953 and 1955, according to Susan De Vos.
- Marion Esther Faith, born 28 April 1896; had 3 surviving children (Winifred, Enid, and Marilyn)
after one miscarriage; died August 1971 in Dryden (NY). Marion may have been bipolar.
- Irma Helen Faith (born 3 April 1895, attended Cornell University;
died 1983 in Ithaca NY) never married and no children
- Winifred Louise Olsen , born 21 July 1923, married George A. De Vos on 4 May 1944, and this
couple raised 4 children in Berkeley, California, where George was Anthopology professor at UC-Berkeley, though there
was a fifth stillborn child. This couple divorced on 4 May 1974 and Winnie remarried on 12 September 1982 to Larry McLaughlin.
After living at 11 El Camino Real in Berkeley, California, for many years, Winnie and Larry moved to an Oakland retirement
condo in 2005. Upon the death of her husband Larry, Winnie moved to Bremerton, Washington, near where her daughter
Laurie was living. After a stroke, she moved to a nearby hospice center, and stopped chemo-therapy for resurgent breast cancer.
Winnie died peacefully and painlessly in her sleep on 7 June 2011.

- Laurence McLaughlin ("Larry"), born 19 May 1924, becoming deaf early in life. Larry's first marriage produced three
children : Lynn Lisenby (born October 1946), Anne Johnson (born March 1948), and
Randall Sean McLaughlin (born June 1956). Larry married for the second time to Winifred Olsen,
with whom he had no additional children. Larry died
in Oakland, California, on 5 December 2005, the same day his step-daughter (Susan De Vos) became
legally separated. Larry had a clever and cheerful sense of humor, and was an excellent Scrabble player.
- Enid M., born 1 March 1925, married Robert Sullivant, still living in Toledo, Ohio;
had 4 children (Wayne, Steven, Barbara Kay, and Cindy)
- Marilyn F., born 29 June 1927, living in Ithaca, N.Y., as of July 2000; 4 children (Heidi, twins Christopher and Catherine, Elizabeth).

"There was Moroni Olsen Hollywood MGM star, making at least 60 movies
between 1928-58 who had a brother Edward and sister Anna. Anna died
as a young woman on a bridge or off it (!) accident ? Moroni never
married. Edward did and had at least one son named Edward who is\was
a lawyer in California. I've asked Winnie many times to look him up
and contact him via law channels out there, but she doesn't.
There was Christian Olsen who married Margaret ? I have that name
somewhere. He was first cousin. They had two boys, both now deceased.
First was named Kenneth. He married Joan ? (have that, too)
They had 5 children. John lived in St. Louis...Enid met him out there.
I don't know details, but Joan Olsen would."

My rollidex gives names of Nils Olsen's sisters:
Elin and Tordis. Marilyn (Baurle) has met one or both, so she will know more,
as, of course, does Nils. Nils lifetime work was with the Norwegian
Royal Navy.
Another Norwegian relative who once visited a few hours in Berkeley :
Odd Torkildsen; wife Grethe. From Bergen, Norway. His work was with a
Norwegian cruise line, I think. Marilyn will know more re these people, too.
