The Departed

In her peaceful grave she lieth -
Spirit blest!
And the breeze a low dige sigheth,
O'er her rest;
Summer flowers are fading, dying,
O'er her there;
Of the form beneath them lying,
Emblems fair.

Still she lives! Her form, though punished,
Lives within there, her memory cherished;
E'er hath been.

Friend! who held her dear when living,
No more weep:
She, for whom ye're fondly grieving,
Sweetly sleeps.
Mourn no more! our loved one ever
Lives - In Heaven.
