The Vestry Book of Carnteel parish, Church of Ireland church in Aughnacloy, County Tyrone,Northern Ireland
shows the name "McFarland" appeared in the Names Legends as early as 1748. Sometime
prior to that date, the first MacFarlanes were probably brought from their Scottish homeland to Northern Ireland.
